NGC 7000 North America Nebula in Hydrogen-alpha Light
NGC 7000 North America Nebula in Hydrogen-alpha Light
NGC 7000 is a bright emission nebula tracing the continental shape of North America. Discovered by William Herschel on 1786, it lies at about 1,500 light-years away from us, belonging to a larger complex of bright red emission nebulosity and surrounded by dark nebulae in the constellation of Cygnus, at about 3º from Deneb star.
Like an art painting from Nature, a starless and less distractive version of only the monochrome Ha light shows the brightest regions in an incredibly sharp rich field shaped by complex structures of fine details from hydrogen-alpha nebulosity, against the fine dark dust lanes, particularly visible close to the Cygnus Wall. The image was captured from Dark Sky® Alqueva observatory,
